Blue Ivy seized the lead from post six and pretty much ended the suspense right there, cruising to her second straight victory in Thursday’s $16,000 Filly & Mare Open Handicap Pace at Hollywood Casino at The Meadows.
Blue Ivy was two lengths ahead at the top of the lane and scored easily for Aaron Merriman in 1:52.2, 1-1/4 lengths better than Game Of Shadows, who also chased Blue Ivy home last week. Lady Newton finished third.
Bill Bercury trains both Blue Ivy and Lady Newton for Renee Bercury. A six-year-old daughter of Captaintreacherous-Ali Blue, Blue Ivy now has banked $547,085.
Brady Brown, Hunter Myers and Ridge Warren joined Merriman with driving doubles on the 11-race card.
Live racing at The Meadows continues Friday when the 11-race program features a pair of five-figure carryovers: $19,607.38 in the final-race Super Hi-5, $16,665.68 in the Jackpot Pick 5 (race four). First post is 12:45 p.m.
