WEGZ Series champion Bay Of Sharks continued his winning roll on Saturday night and provided trainer Corey Johnson with a sweep of this week's Open events at Woodbine Racetrack

.

After winning the $42,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace on Friday night with British import Laneside Lexus, Johnson also clicked in the $50,000 Open Pace Saturday with Bay Of Sharks.

Fresh off three straight wins in the WEGZ Series, Bay Of Sharks worked his way to the top from Post 7 with Paul MacDonell in the sulky. The Cams Card Shark-Whitley Bay six-year-old cleared to command into the first turn and hit the opening quarter mark in :27.1, followed by the half in :55.2, and then three-quarters in 1:23.1. Last week's Open winner Upfront Hoosierboy (Mario Baillargeon) had launched a first over attack down the backstretch, but Bay Of Sharks opened up two lengths at the top of the homestretch and cruised to victory in 1:51.3. Upfront Hoosierboy chased him home for runner-up honours while Camaes Fellow (Doug McNair) closed well from the backfield to show. The favourite paid $4.80 to win.

Bay Of Sharks now boasts a perfect four-for-four record since being purchased by Michael Sergi of Canton, New York and joining Johnson's stable at the end of January. He is six-for-seven on the year with $90,520 banked in purse earnings.

The winner of 17 races and over $400,000 lifetime has been nominated to the Spring Pacing Championship at the end of March.
