Flamboro Preferred To Honor Above All

Wildwild Men was heavily favoured to win Thursday’s $8,500 Preferred 3 at Flamboro Downs, but Honor Above All turned a ground-saving trip into a 4-1 mini upset in the evening’s top trot.

It was Wildwild Men setting down panels of :29, 1:00.3 and 1:30.4 over the ‘sloppy’ surface, but Honor Above All popped out of the three-hole going to the three-quarter pole for driver Scott Young. The gelding was at the flank of the leader at the three-quarter pole, but Honor Above All’s :30.3 closing quarter earned Honor Above All the win by three-quarters of a length over Wildwild Men in 2:01.3. Third prize was earned by the winner’s stablemate, Bred For Greatness.

Trainer Ben Baillargeon co-owns the five-year-old son of Muscles Yankee-Honorable Daughter with Claude Hamel and Santo & Nunzio Vena. It was the first win of the season in eight attempts for the 10-time winner. The lion’s share of the loot lifted his career earnings to $167,556.
