Alfie Carroll extended his lead atop of the Canadian driver standings on Friday night as he drove half of the winners on Western Fair District's 10-race card.
The Gord McDonnell stable had a perfect night at the London, Ont. oval, going three-for-three with Carroll driving Goldies Mach ($4.70), Ideal Space ($3.90) and Prakasmakesperfect ($5.90). All three winners are owned by McDonnell and Vince Orlando, with Steve John also sharing part ownership of Goldies Mach.
Carroll also won with the maiden-breaking Magic Dancing ($2.70) for trainer Victor Puddy and Go To Helsinki ($2.10) for conditioner Brad Schweitzer.
His night included a four-race win streak running from races two through five.
The resident of Iona Station, Ont. had a career-best season in 2014 with 311 victories and his mounts earning over $1.3 million in purses.
Carroll leads all drivers in Canada for wins so far this year with 112 -- 19 more than Robert Shepherd, who ranks second. He has earned 94 of his wins at Western Fair to top the local leaderboard and hold a dominant 59-win advantage over second-place Nick Steward.
