Driver Tyler Buter made his 2,000th career win a family affair on Wednesday night at Pocono Downs as he went zooming by the leaders in the third race for the milestone victory aboard his wife's trainee.
Buter entered Wednesday's card needing just two wins to reach the milestone and wasted no time accomplishing the feat, winning with his first two drives aboard a pair of trotters.
After hanging on by a head to take the opener with the Chris Oakes-trained mare As Yall Like It ($6.20) in 1:55, the 27-year-old reinsman sent Zooming ($3.20) from third to first two races later to notch his 2,000th triumph. Buter shares ownership of the five-year-old Classic Photo gelding, who won by one and a half lengths in 1:55.4, with Stephen Oldford and Oldford Farms LLC while his wife Amber handles the training duties.
Buter, who has earned over $16.2 million in purses lifetime, enjoyed a career year in 2012 banking over $3.1 million. The Michigan native now living in upstate New York won 239 times last year and was third among drivers at Pocono Downs in both wins and money.
