The Philadelphia Police will soon be reinstating its mounted police unit, and the crew has recently been bolstered with the addition of five retired standardbreds
.
According to an article on examiner.com, the standardbred were introduced during an outdoor ceremony on Friday, March 25. The horses are standardbreds which were adopted by the Standardbred Retirement Foundation.
The report explains that four of the five horses came from the recently-disbanded Newark Mounted Police Unit.
The horses were named by the families of police officers which recently loss their lives while serving in the line of duty.
