For the second time in the last three trots of the Great Lakes Amateur Drivers Association (GLADA), the young and talented Eddie Miller reined a winner. On Saturday (March 27), he took no prisoners and went down the road at Northfield Park with Cowboy Country in a wire-to-wire win in a time of 1:58.
Being sent tonight as the prohibitive 1-2 favourite from post 2, Miller took command, but was challenged by longshot Yss Toddys Prince. They zipped by the quarter in :29 and were still side by side as they approached the half in :58.4. But by the time they reached that marker, Rocovichs trotter was all in and his strides began to shorten.
Meanwhile, Better Call Saul was a solid second behind Cowboy Country as they trotted by the three-quarters in 1:28.2. And as the field headed for the final turn, Darrel Rideout moved up behind Better Call Saul, but that was as far as he went. When the leaders approached the finish line, Better Call Saul was rallying, but the veteran trotter ran out of racetrack and was a head short as Cowboy Country held gamely for the win. Voss Volo came from out of the pack to garner the show dough for Manny Miller.
Cowboy Country is owned by Rebecca Sugg and Steven Maas and trained by Eddie Miller. He paid $3.00 for win.
