The Fixer Flaunts At Flamboro

Despite parking the first half of the mile, odds-on favourite The Fixer had no issue fronting his competition and winning the $10,000 Preferred 3 Trot on Saturday (March 27) at Flamboro Downs.

The Fixer left for the top but failed to clear to the pylons as Moana also motored to the lead from the inside. Battling by the first quarter in :28, The Fixer remained alongside Moana before crossing over to command past a :56.4 half. Moana began to retreat into the backstretch, helping The Fixer to open a five-length lead to three-quarters in 1:26.3. The five-year-old Trixton gelding maintained a wide lead through the stretch, hitting the beam three-and-a-half lengths better than Katch Kanna while Herbs Journey finished third.

Owned by 1652281 Ontario Limited, The Fixer won his 15th race from 61 starts, earning $193,098. Nick Steward drove the $2.90 winner for trainer David Frey.
