Trainer Richard 'Nifty' Norman has provided an update on talented three-year-old trotting filly Miss Paris
.
When Miss Paris captured the $300,000 OSS Super Final last season in her final start of her freshman campaign, she established herself as a top threat this season in the provincial program.
The regally-bred daughter of Kadabra--Pizza Dolce was a $210,000 yearling purchase and has banked $486,656 in her rookie season for Norman.
“She has come back great,” Norman said. “She has been trained down to 2:15 at this point and she’s right on schedule. She was a good-sized two-year-old last year, so she didn’t grow a lot. She got a few inches taller I believe and filled out nicely. There’s nothing not to like about her.”
Norman also confirmed that Miss Paris will likely be kept primarily in Ontario this season.
“The plan is to qualify her at the Meadowlands in early May and then she’ll go to Ontario to prepare for the ‘Gold,’ Casual Breeze and Elegantimage. She remains eligible to the Hambletonian Oaks and other stakes races in the U.S., but we are not sure if we will go or not. We want to focus on racing her in Ontario.”
The brown filly boasts a record of 7-2-1 from 14 starts last year with a life’s best clocking of 1:56.1.
Although Miss Paris ranked first in the standings in the Ontario Sires Stakes program, Norman isn't underestimating her competition.
“There are a handful of top fillies just like her,” he said. “Also, you never know what’s going to come out of the woodwork. All we can do is have her ready as best we can.”
Miss Paris is owned by Melvin Hartman, Herb Liverman and David McDuffee and was primarily driven by Scott Zeron.
