Upset City In DSBF Prelims

Even Brighter and Bellas Spunkin were upset winners in Tuesday’s Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) divisions for three-year-old trotting fillies at Dover Downs.

Even Brighter pulled off a 30-1 surprise in the first $20,000 DSBF prelim when Bret Brittingham guided the three-year-old daughter of Giant Hit-Even Bolder to a come-from-behind win in 2:01.4 for Onery Inc. Gogh Gogh (Tony Morgan) finished second with Oso Grateful (George Dennis) third.

Bellas Spunkin, who was sent off at 5-1, was the upsetter in the second $20,000 DSBF trot winning a three-horse photo on the inside in 2:00.1. Allan Davis drove the Stop The Jade Farm-owned sophomore to the win edging race-favourite Kelseys Commando (Vic Kirby) and Overnight Hit (Art Stafford, Jr.) at the wire.

The second legs of the four DSBF preliminaries will be raced next week at Dover Downs. The top eight point getters after two legs in the soph filly pace return for a $100,000 final on April 7.

Four drivers dominated Tuesday’s snow-filled program winning 12 of 15 races. Tim Tetrick won four races while Tony Morgan and Allan Davis had three wins apiece. George Dennis had a pair of winners.
