MacDonald Tops Rideau Winners

Rideau Carleton Raceway's leading driver John MacDonald added five more victories to his 2013 record on Sunday night, including one with the streaking Beeeyouuuuuu.

MacDonald guided the Brenda Spence-trained Beeeyouuuuuu ($3.80) to its fourth win in a row midway through his five-bagger in the eighth race for $9,000 claimers. The eight-year-old Yankee Cruiser gelding rallied off cover to win by three lengths in 1:55.3, his fastest mile in his current streak for owner Frank Cirillo of Kleinburg, Ont.

MacDonald's earlier wins were with trotter Victory Nut ($6.30) in the fourth race for Cyril MacDonald and Noartographsplease ($2.40) in the fifth for Rene Allard. He later concluded his winning crusade with John MacMillan trainees The Deputy Is Home ($3.50) in the 10th and Derby Dylan ($3.20) in the 15th.

MacDonald pushed his local leading win total to 59 while runner-up Denis St. Pierre increased his to 50 with a Sunday driving triple.

The Russell, Ont. reinsman currently ranks among Canada's top five leading drivers with a .359 win percentage.
