First Mohawk Qualifying Session

Mohawk Racetrack hosted its first qualifying session of the 2017 season on Thursday, March 23, and a total of 10 dashes went postward over the seven-eighths-mile oval.

Race 3 produced the fastest pacing mile of the program, as the Rene Allard-trained and Jason Ryan-driven Bigtown Hero went gate to wire (:27.3, :56.3, 1:25.3) from Post 5 and stopped the clock in 1:54. The nine-year-old American Ideal gelding sealed the deal with a :28.2 final quarter and hung one for a neck win.

The final race of the card produced the fastest trotting time of the morning, as the Jeff Byron-trained and Scott Young-driven Rose Run Rudi turned a pocket ride into a nose victory. The duo started from Post 3, sat through the fractions (:28.3, :57.4, 1:27.3) and kicked home with a :28.4 final quarter to get up in a 1:58.1 mile.

Other winners included Domitian Hall (1:58.2), Blameitonthewhiskey (1:59.4), Artistic Style (2:00.1), Tour De Lindy (2:01), Manhattan Play (1:57.4), Day Trade Hanover (1:54.4), Lawrencetown Beach (1:58.1) and Louie The Shark (1:57.4).
