Close The Hole On Him, No Problem

When a horse gets shut out of a hole and is forced to drive on to the lead, that horse typically doesn't win the race by holding off the one that denied a rail spot earlier.

Run And Tell Pap got the last laugh when he thwarted Daylon Miracle’s first-over bid and captured Monday’s $18,000 Winners Over $10,000 Life/Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.

Run And Tell Pap and Dave Palone appeared to be looking for a seat from the gate, but Daylon Miracle and Aaron Merriman had inside position and got there first. Run And Tell Pap turned the tables when he reeled off a 27.3 third quarter to keep Daylon Miracle at bay. He scored in 1:54.4, a head better than the rallying Classicality, while Daylon Miracle saved show.

Ron Burke trains Run And Tell Pap, an eight-year-old High Falls-Adeles Jade gelding who extended his career bankroll to $531,306, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and M1 Stable.

Tony Hall piloted three winners on the 14-race card.

THE MEADOWS TUESDAY CARD: $20,000 PICK 5 GUARANTEE, $5,000 PICK 4 GUARANTEE

On Tuesday, March 24, the live card at The Meadows Racetrack & Casino will feature two total-pool guarantees — a $20,000 guarantee for the Pick 5 and a $5,000 guarantee for the Pick 4. Both are offered as part of the United States Trotting Association's Strategic Wagering Initiative.

The Meadows added the “instant” Pick 5 guarantee after Monday’s Pick 5 was uncovered, resulting in a two-day carryover of $5,451.97, while the $5,000 Pick 4 guarantee is a regular feature each Monday and Tuesday.

Minimum wager for the Pick 4 (races 4-7) and Pick 5 (races 10-14) is 50 cents. Since Pennsylvania law requires a minimum per-race wager of $2, a player wagering at the 50-cent level must bet at least four tickets.

First post for Tuesday’s program is 12:55 PM.
