Undeterred by Post 7, Winning It powered to the front and drew off to capture her second straight series win in Friday’s Donna Dunn Memorial Pace at The Meadows
.
Chloe Hall and Metro Ville also took $15,000 second leg divisions in the series for three- and four-year-old fillies and mares which concludes with next Friday’s final.
Aided by a second-quarter breather, Winning It, the 1-5 favourite, blazed home in :55.4 for Dave Palone and scored in a career-best 1:52.4, equalling the fastest mile this year by a sophomore filly on a five-eighths-mile track. Perfect Pose rallied between horses for second, two and a quarter lengths back, with Sharkist Breeze third.
Ron Burke trains Winning It, a daughter of Dragon Again-Day After Day who has won seven of her 10 lifetime starts, for Burke Racing Stable, Weaver Bruscemi LLC and Panhellenic Stable.
Palone drove three winners — all for Burke — on the 15-race card, giving him 14,994 career victories in his quest for 15,000 and Herve Filion’s North American record of 15,180.
