Still sitting last going into the final quarter, Wambam Sam tipped out to be third over and then used a :27.3 final frame to prevail in going away fashion. He drew clear to win by 1-1/4 lengths over Jeremys Successor, with race favourite Schoolkids not far behind in third.
Bier, who co-owns the five-year-old son of Real Artist-Roses For Sammie with Glenn Del Russo and Charles Dombeck, watched the gelding win for the 18th time in his career while lifting his lifetime earnings to $279,973.
