A set of $12,500 Preferred events – one for pacers and one for trotters – highlighted Sunday evening’s 12-race card at Windsor Raceway, with the top prizes going to

Ricks Sign and Home Stretch.

Ricks Sign, who entered Sunday’s assignment fresh off a 1:57 score in the Preferred ranks at Western Fair Raceway just six days ago, did most of the road work en route to a 1:55.1 score against his pacing foes for the duo of driver Eric Carlson and trainer Paul Holzman.

Carlson got away sixth the with six-year-old Life Sign before buzzing him to the lead as the field moved in front of the grandstand. He established the lead prior to the mid-way point, and once in command he threw down panels of :58.3 and 1:26.3 before using a :28.3 final frame to earn the winning decision over Dark Lightning and The Admiral.

Andrew Sassen of Hillsboro Beach, FL holds the ownership papers on the gelding who improved his 2011 record to 6-1-1 in nine tries. The 24-time winner has stashed away more than $117,000 in lifetime earnings.

Home Stretch made a round trip to Windsor Raceway’s winner’s circle thanks to his two-length score in Sunday’s co-featured Preferred Trot. Trained and driven by Tim Driver, the seven-year-old son of Valley Victory was parked to the quarter pole in a :29-second clip being crossing down to the rail and supplying middle panels of :59.4 and 1:29.1. He finished off the competition with a :29-second closing quarter en route to the 1:58.1 decision over a track rated “sloppy” with a one-second allowance for time. Race favourite, Power Shot, was second best and Whitesand Diablo grabbed the show dough.

June Durussel of Millington, MI owns the veteran who is now 2-for-6 this season after going 16-for-33 last year. The 43-time winner has now stashed away in excess of $284,000 in lifetime earnings.
