Keith Clark worked out a beautiful, two-hole trip in Friday’s $12,000 Fillies & Mares Open Pace for Lady And Thetrench, and the four-year-old daughter of Armbro Trench didn’t let it go to waste
.
Instead, Lady And Thetrench parlayed it into a 1:55.3 tally over Goodbadanddeugly N and Jennas Pass.
Starring Role shot to the front when the starter said ‘Go’ to the field. She rolled the six-pack of pacing femmes through splits of :28, :57.4 and 1:26.2 before her wheels started to wobble. Lady And Thetrench, on the other hand, had plenty of pace in reserve. After shadowing the pacesetter all the way into the stretch, the Clark trainee popped off the rail and used a :29-second closing quarter to win by a little more than a length in 1:55.3.
Clark shares ownership on the mare with Pat Elynuik and John Hind of Calgary, Alberta. It was her second win of the year and the ninth of her career. She has banked more than $136,000 to date.
