The nine-year-old daughter of Cambest-Tappy Belle, who was a 1:51.4 winner in the class on March 5, returned from a two-week holiday and held on bravely for a 1:52.4 score in Friday’s $44,000 assignment.
Jason Brewer marched Four Starzz Meliss to immediate command from her pole position starting spot, and after slicing out fractions of :26.4, :56.1 and 1:25.2 she summoned up a :27.2 final quarter which was just enough to hold off a stubborn Ladycino by a nose. Windsong Filou came on late to finish third.
Glenn Lalonde conditions the charismatic campaigner for his wife, Jenny, and John Nother of Brampton, ON. The victory was the mare’s third of the season and the 47th of her career. The lion’s share of the purse bumped her career bankroll well over the $900,000 mark.
