Trainer John MacMillan enjoyed another profitable night at Rideau Carleton Raceway on Thursday thanks
to a trio of trips to victory lane.
MacMillan, who boasts an ultra-impressive UTR of .510 in 2009, joined forces with driver Darrell Coville to take the seventh race with Reign Of Fire (1:54.3) to get the ball rolling.
The MacMillan-trained Cherry Picker (1:57.1) eked out a narrow win for driver Ted McDonald in Race 10, and that trainer/driver duo returned to the winner’s circle in Race 15 thanks to a driving away victory with Dewers Gingernlime (1:58.4).
The three-win performance pushed MacMillan’s 2009 win total to 31 and it helped his purse earnings climb to $124,626 for the season.
Thursday was also another huge night for driver John MacDonald, as he visited the winner's circle five times.
He began with a natural driving double in the 5th and 6th with Delta Dental and Cost of Freedom. “Sir John A” doubled up again in races 9 and 10 with Golden Ace and Cherry Picker and then closed it out in the 14th with Ride The Bus.
MacDonald now has 49 wins in 2009 and purse earnings of $226,556. These totals come after a career year in 2008 which saw him visit the winner's circle a record 304 times, collecting a career high $1,575,505 in purse money.
