Anita Ouellette trainees So Frisky ($3.70) and Manhattan Night finished one-two in Wednesday's (March 2) featured $12,000 Preferred 2 Handicap for pacing mares at The Raceway at the Western Fair District — but it took some crafty driving from Colin Kelly to seal victory with the odds-on favourite.

Kelly secured the pocket with So Frisky, allowing 11-1 shot Catch An Ace to control early fractions of :27.2 and :57.2. Not wanting to risk being shuffled out of contention behind a flagging pacesetter, Kelly slid the six-year-old Dali mare off the pegs with three-eighths of the one-mile journey to go before Millies Million — whom Travis Cullen activated from fifth — could reach Catch An Ace's wheel. So Frisky had no trouble clearing Catch An Ace, but faced a mild challenge from Millies Million at three-quarters in 1:27. After dismissing that rival on the home turn, So Frisky coasted to the winning post under a hand drive, scoring by three-quarters of a length in 1:57. Stablemate Manhattan Night split foes up the backstretch to avoid traffic and chased up the pegs for second; Saulsbrook Jessie circled three-wide from astern to finish third.

Luc Ouellette Incorporated owns So Frisky, who has won 25 times in her career and three of her five starts this season.
