According to a report, former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich can have immunity from a civil lawsuit filed by the operators of casinos in the state in regard to an alleged attempted shakedown of a horse racing executive over the signing of a pro-horse racing bill
.
An article by the Chicago Sun-Times quotes Blagojevich's civil lawyer, Jay Edelson, as saying, “You’re not allowed to just bring governors into court because you make allegations into wrongdoing. I think the decision really has wide-ranging implications.”
