The Belleville Intelligencer has published another scathing editorial of Baymount Inc.'s stalled plan to bring the New Quinte Exhibition and Raceway to
fruition in Belleville.
The editorial cites the last announcement from Baymount, which came via consultant Mario Joanette. He had said that Baymount was on the cusp of announcing some major, positive updates about the situation, although Baymount was forced to toe the line in regard to what it can say publicly, as "…there’s a level of confidentiality when you’re dealing with Ontario Lottery and Gaming people and we have to respect that.”
A few days later, Kelly McDougald, chief executive officer of Ontario Lottery and Gaming, retorted on the matter, stating in a letter to The Belleville Intelligencer's editor that, "(Joanette's comments to The Belleville Intelligencer) are misleading in suggesting that Baymount was unable to share information with the public because of a confidentiality requirement from OLG."
McDougald went on to explain that, "OLG does not have any agreements with Baymount that prevent them from updating the public on where they are with the development of the racetrack."
