Back-To-Back New Holland Wins For Nautical Hanover

Nautical Hanover continued his comeback tour with an overpowering performance to snag the sole $30,000 dash for the second preliminary of the New Holland Pacing Series on Saturday (March 18) at Woodbine Mohawk Park after winning in the opening leg.

Woodmere Stealdeal dashed for the lead with Southbeach Hanover settling into second to a :27.4 first quarter. The Longest Yard then bolted from fourth and cleared control before a :55 half all while Nautical Hanover raced in fifth. As the tempo settled to three-quarters in 1:23.1, driver James MacDonald motored Nautical Hanover from fifth and snagged the lead coming off the bottom turn and coasted home a 1-3/4-length winner in 1:51.1 over stablemate Commanding Officer. Armor Seelster rallied for third and Woodmere Stealdeal settled for fourth.

Ben Baillargeon conditions Nautical Hanover, a four-year-old stallion by Captaintreacherous, for owner Richard Berthiaume. The stallion won his seventh race from 35 starts and has now earned $277,827. He paid $6.80 to win.
