A report by John Brennan in The Bergen Record has quoted New Jersey State Senate President Stephen Sweeney as saying that talk of casino expansion in the northern end of the state will not be discussed in the legislature for another two years.
The article has cited Sen. Sweeney as stressing the current five-year agreement with state to give Atlantic City the chance to rebound from its recent casino woes. The contract will expire in February, 2016.
Sen. Sweeney was quoted as saying, “Listen, as long as I’m alive and I’m the Senate President, we’re not moving [such bills].”
The Senator went on to say, “I made a deal, and my word is good. We’ll talk about it after the five years. That’s when we would start having a discussion.”
