Wins have been tough to come by for Lyons Johnny this season, but a trip to Kawartha Downs proved to be a profitable one on Monday for the Bruce Goit trainee

The four-year-old son of Mach Three-Renees Queen and driver Jonathan Drury watched Lisfinny supply early fractions of :27 and :55.1 before making a three-wide rush to join the leaders. Drury put the pedal to the metal and looped up three high to join Lisfinny and Rock Me Amastreos at the three-quarter pole in 1:23.2. Lyons Johnny kept on trucking and used a :29.3 closing panel to draw clear by 3-1/2 lengths over Rock Me Amastreos in a sparkling time of 1:53. Power Off came on strong to finish third.
Geoffrey Lyons Mound of Burford, ON owns the five-time winner, who pushed his career earnings to $92,775 with the victory.
