Ramona Disomma earned a new speed badge at the Meadowlands on Friday night when she stormed home to capture the $115,000 final of the Overbid Series

in 1:50.4.

George Brennan mapped out the winning trip for the Jacob Hartline student, who notched her third win of the season in 10 tries. It was the 18th lifetime tally for the five-year-old daughter of Pacific Fella-Duplicity.

Ramona Disomma dropped into the three-hole going into the first turn while race favourite Ginger And Fred carved out an opening panel in :26.4. Positions for those two were unchanged at the mid-way point in :54.3, but Brennan launched a final-turn attack and things had changed by the time the field reached the three-quarter pole.

Ginger Fred was still the leader at that juncture in 1:22.3, but it was Ramona Disomma who showed a comfortable lead at the top of the stretch. Despite drifting out in the lane Ramona Disomma stepped home in :28.1 for the 1:50.4 decision. It was a length back to runner-up Sportsfancy, with Flirtiscape rounding out the top three.

"I was just trying to get away the best I can and landed in the three-hole," Brennan said. "The fractions were quick and because [Ginger And Fred] came first over at [the quarter], I knew I would just have to take my chances inside. As it turned out, I was able to sit until the turn and make my move there. In the middle of the turn I knew I had Ginger And Fred, but there were some good horses behind us and I was never confident [about winning] until about 10 feet from the wire."

"There's not much too her, she's small," Brennan added. "She was coming into this race really well. Last week wasn't the trip I wanted. It was either be fifth over or, I had to take my chances up the inside. She was overloaded with pace, so she was coming into this race really well."

Anatolia Racing Stb Inc of Hopewell Junction, NY holds the papers on the talented distaffer, who has stashed in excess of $147,000 this season and more than $511,000 to date.
