Drawing the outside post eight and only having one start under her belt for the season wasn't enough to deter Turn The Page N as the six-year-old Vincent mare and driver Ron Cushing overcame both to win the $21,429 Fillies & Mare Open Handicap Pace on Tuesday, March 18 at Saratoga Casino Hotel.

Turn The Page N got the worst of things early and wound up getting parked the mile in the Fillies & Mares Open. Undaunted, the Heidi Cushing trainee fought gamely on the outside in first half fractions of :27.4 and :56.4 before eventually reeling in the race’s leader around the final turn. Turn The Page N completed her monster mile by drawing away to score by 4-1/2 lengths in 1:54. Laurie Lee (Jimmy Devaux), last week’s Open winner, was second to Turn The Page N while Side Piece (Aaron Byron) closed from last to finish third in the feature.

Ron Cushing co-owns Turn The Page N with Kevin Sywyk. Turn The Page N was the even-money betting favourite in the Tuesday matinee’s Open.

Live harness racing continues on Wednesday, March 19 at Saratoga with a first post time of 12 p.m.
