After a second-place finish in the series opener, Pemberton returned on Monday, March 18 at Woodbine Mohawk Park with his sights on the victory in the $30,000 New Holland Trotting Series. After taking command before the half-mile marker, Pemberton achieved his goal, winning the series split in 1:55.2.
James MacDonald and the Julie Walker student got away third through to the opening panel in :28 before taking command. After that panel, MacDonald swept to the top with Pemberton. The pair clicked out two panels in :57.1 and 1:26.3 before braving the journey home to a 1-1/2-length victory in 1:55.2. Locatelli (Chris Christoforou) sped home to finish second and Pikachu Hanover (Doug McNair) grabbed the show spot.
Pemberton is owned by breeders Brenda and Christine Walker. The seven-year-old son of Wheeling N Dealin and the Muscle Mass mare Dayshifter won his second start in three appearances on the track this year. In 43 career starts, Pemberton has made a record of 16-6-6 with $543,179 banked. As the bettors' choice, he returned $3 to win.
The New Holland Series is open to non-winners of $150,000 (fillies and mares $175,000) in 2023. The $60,000 added-money final is scheduled for Saturday, March 30.
Lets Get Rocked ($2.89) took the first of two $10,000 Pop-Up Series divisions for $8,000 claiming pacers with Louis-Philippe Roy in the bike for Isaac Waxman. As the victor of the third leg of the series, Lets Get Rocked paced in 1:56.1 to win by 3-1/4 lengths. Dirty Little Piglet ($59.10) upset in the second split by 1-1/2 lengths in 1:55.3 with Sylvain Filion holding the lines for Cassidy Schneider.
