After four-straight near misses, three of which were losses by just a neck, luck was finally on the side of Lorrie Please.

Pacing mare Lorrie Please and driver Eric Carlson held on for a 1:53.2 victory in the $16,000 Mares Winners-Over pace feature on a rainy day over a ‘sloppy’ track on March 18 at Dover Downs.

Starting from an inside post did not hurt the six-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-National Gallery in gaining her second win of the year along with four-seconds and two thirds. Eric Carlson quickly took Lorrie Please to the lead and continued to fight off challengers en route to victory winning an extremely tight photo by a nose from hard-charging Rock N Load (Roger Plante). Allen Kaplan of Chestnut Ridge, N.Y., Ira Kaplan of Monsey, N.Y. and David Sheib of Sarasota, Fl. own the winner, who has earned $37,495 in 2013 and $321,540 in her career.

In one of two $15,000 Filly & Mare paces, the track and sport’s leading dash and money-winning driver Corey Callahan piloted Taylor B Swift to her second win in three races splashing home in 1:56.1 for his dad, owner-trainer Nick Callahan. Ariadne Hanover (George Dennis) finished second ending a two-race win streak. Fill My Pockets Up (Ross Wolfenden) was third.

Stealin The Show was strongest in the stretch in the other $15,000 division. Allan Davis drove the Rocknroll Hanover-Whig Party brown mare to her second success of the year. Josh Parker trains and co-owns the winner with Nanticoke Racing. Heavenly Place (Jason Lynch) was runner-up. Disco Diva (Ben Stafford Jr.) closed to be third.
