O'Brien Award-winning harness racing writer Andrew Cohen is the latest to chime in on the ongoing issue regarding the Atlantic City casinos and possible gaming expansion at the Meadowlands
.
"Instead of losing the horse industry forever, instead of lagging further behind its neighbors in gaming strategy, it’s time for the Garden State to take a sharp switch in course," Cohen wrote in a blog entry on nj.com. "It’s time to bring a first-class casino to the Meadowlands Racetrack located right in the heart of the new sports complex in East Rutherford, just a few miles from Manhattan."
Cohen goes on to write: "It seems to me that your state’s leaders can no longer afford to talk and wait and bicker while this revenue stream flows by. It’s time to act—time to compromise. Give people who want to spend their gaming and racing dollars in New Jersey a viable option in just one spot. Build at the Meadowlands and give 10 million New Yorkers a new place to go spend their money."
