The Organization of Racing Investigators (ORI) will hold its annual Training Conference at Woodbine Racetrack in Toronto, Ontario from March 25-28, 2018.
The ORI’s annual conferences aim to give members learning opportunities with a focus on education and the sharing of best practices related to the welfare of horses and maintaining the integrity of the industry.
As Ontario’s provincial regulator for horse racing, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) will be hosting the ORI conference this year. The AGCO is pleased to be supporting the progress of the industry and the learning opportunities the ORI conference presents.
“This year our conference focuses on exploring modern approaches for ensuring the safety of horses and racing participants." said ORI Chairman, Jeremy Locke, Manager of Racing Investigations at the AGCO. The ORI was established in 1991 and is composed of professionals from the public and private sectors, who are responsible for investigations within the racing industry in some capacity. The conference attracts attendees from Australia, Canada, Ireland, Jamaica and the United States.
Topics covered at the 2018 Training Conference will include examining a modern approach to human drug testing, a case study on emergency management planning for the Queen’s Plate, as well as practical training in fire safety and location inspections.
