NJ Expanded Gambling Poll

According to an article on northjersey.com, Fairleigh Dickinson University’s Public Mind poll recently asked New Jersey residents what they thought about the expansion of state gambling outside of Atlantic City.

A total of 751 randomly-selected registered voters were polled. The result: 70 per cent of respondents oppose expanded gambling, and just 24 per cent favour it. The article states that the results were nearly identical whether comparing men and women, or comparing liberals, conservatives and moderates.

According to the report, NJ senator Jeff Van Drew stated that Yonkers Raceway — only 20 miles from Paramus — is siphoning off some New Jersey entertainment dollars. But he called the numbers "minimal in comparison to the damage that would be created by establishing VLTs in the Meadowlands."
