Chocolate Swirl did all the roadwork in last week’s $11,500 Preferred 2 Handicap for horses and geldings at The Raceway at Western Fair District before weakening late and finishing third, but he was solid gold from start to finish in Monday’s main event.

Travis Henry fired Chocolate Swirl to the lead from Post 4 and together they whacked out fractions of :29.1, :59 and 1:26.4 before scooting home in :28.3 to win by 1-1/2 lengths over Artistic Pick in 1:55.2. Jay Eye Em took home the show dough.

Fred Bourgault trains the five-year-old son of Mach Three-Chocolate Truffle for owner Keith Cassell of Smiths Falls, Ont. Since being claimed for $15,000 in late January the pacer has assembled a 2-0-1 record from three assignments. The lion’s share of the loot lifted his lifetime earnings to $61,156.

Oh K Man stretched his winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to a 2:05 triumph in the $9,400 Preferred 3 for horses and geldings.

The six-year-old son of Western Ideal-Armbro Amour went gate-to-wire in the added distance affair for driver Marc St. Louis, who watched the favourite win by 3-3/4 lengths over Paparazzi Hanover. Im Not Bad was third.

Danielle St. Louis trains the pacer for owner Stewart McQueen of Sarnia, Ont. The win was the eighth of the season from 13 trips to the track for the 25-time winner. He pushed his lifetime earnings over $150,000 with the victory.
