Multiple top pacers were back in action during Saturday morning's qualifying session at Meadowlands Racetrack, including one of the North America's fastest pacers so far this year and the richest ever.
Ron Burke's top money-winning pacer Foiled Again returned to the track for his second qualifier this season and advanced around runner-up D Gs Woodstock down the backstretch en route to a three and three-quarter victory in 1:52.4 in rein to Yannick Gingras. The winning effort followed up a 1:53.2 mile in his seasonal debut last weekend.
Talented full-siblings Ginger And Fred and Fred And Ginger also won their respective qualifiers for the Burke stable. Millionaire mare Ginger And Fred and Marcus Miller rallied home from third with a :27.4 final frame in her 2013 debut to edge past two-time O'Brien Award winner Anndrovette in 1:52.4 while Presidential Series runner-up Fred And Ginger, driven by David Miller, cruised wire-to-wire to win the following qualifier in 1:50.2 by two lengths over Golden Receiver, who has already paced four sub-1:50 miles this year including a pair of 1:48.4 winning efforts.
In trotting action, million-dollar earner In Focus converted off a pocket trip to win his eight-year-old debut in 1:55.4 by three-quarters of a length over Unefoisdansmavie. Jimmy Takter drove his trainee, who clocked a :28.2 final quarter. In Focus is owned by Christina Takter and Toronto's John and Jim Fielding.
