Stepping up in class, pacer No Bu earned his first Preferred victory with a career-best 1:50.1 score in the $34,000 feature race on Saturday's card of harness racing at Woodbine Racetrack.
Driver Jody Jamieson worked out a perfect second over trip aboard the five-year-old Kilowatt gelding, who is owned by trainer Rene Allard and Yves Sarrazin of La Presentation, Que.
With the inside post advantage, Top Gear (Scott Zeron) established the early lead in the full field of 10 with outsider Thepaninsulahotel (Randy Waples) and post eight starter Modern Legend (Jack Moiseyev) dropping into the two and three spots during a :26.1 opening panel.
As the field straightened up down the backstretch, heavy 4-5 favourite Modern Legend swept to command and hit the half in :54.3. He took the field to the third quarter station in 1:22.3 while Camaes Fellow (Doug McNair) advanced up alongside the leader from fourth with No Bu on his back.
Down the stretch, No Bu fanned three-wide and eventually glided past the top dueling duo to win by one and a half lengths, shaving more than one full second off his lifetime mark. Camaes Fellow edged out Modern Legend to place.
