Pouncing off the pegs nearing the final turn, A J Destiny took control late to score in the $8,500 Preferred 3 Trot at Flamboro Downs on Saturday (March 14).
Driver Colin Kelly positioned A J Destiny in third while Talbot Eh Plus led the field through opening splits of :27.3 and :57.4. Into the backside Kelly gave A J Destiny his cue and rushed to the front passing three-quarters in 1:27.1. Edging a half-length in front of Talbot Eh Plus into the stretch, A J Destiny scooted away while pursued by pocket-sitter Keepall, who finished second by a length in a 1:57.1 mile. Neon Lights closed from near last for third.
Co-owned by trainer Mark Goddard with Brandon Guerra, A J Destiny—a nine-year-old gelding by Kadabra—won his third race from 10 starts this season and his 29th from 205 overall, earning $240,926. He paid $5.20.
