Thavage Boy set out for the lead right from the get-go and did not back down during his quest for glory in the $13,700 Pacin N Racin Series Final on Saturday night at Kawartha Downs

The six-year-old gelding left from Post 5 under the guidance of trainer/driver Doug Hie. Sent off as the second choice at odds of 3-1, Thavage Boy led from start to finish posting panels of :28.4, :59.3 and 1:29 along the way. In the stretch, Thavage Boy propelled away by two and three-quarters to win in a career-best 1:58.1.
Damadian (Bruce Richardson) was the runner-up with elimination winner Stonehouse Baran (Scott Cisco) finishing third.
Thavage Boy, a Jennas Beach Boy bay, has yet to finish out of the money in seven lifetime starts. His second win upped his bankroll to $16,650 for Jaqueline Spry of Cobourg, Ont.
In the first of four $5,500 Snow Buster Trotting Series eliminations for $6,000 claimers, Sampson Eden wired the field scoring in 2:01.1 by four lengths for the Gord Brown and Mark Winacott team. Muckross (Reginald Gassien) and Nila Speed (Steve Skilton) finished second and third.
The five-year-old Angus Hall gelding notched his third win in five ‘09 starts. Owned by Glenview Livestock Ltd. of Wallenstein, Ont., the bay scored his 10th career win pushing his earnings over the $70,000 mark.
Titan Spur and driver Fred Brethour switched things up in the second elim using off the pace tactics to win in 2:01.3 for trainer and co-owner Brett Riley. Wooden Shoes (Tomas Dalborg) finished second off a pocket trip while the pacesetter, Dukes Legacy (Hie), finished third.
The five-year-old son of Pegasus Spur prevailed for the first time this year in four starts. In his career, Titan Spur has recorded six wins with earnings totaling $25,264.
Brethour was back in the bike for a win in the third elim with Sigarmill giving the younger Riley, Thomas, his first training victory of the year.
The seven-year-old son Mr Lavec scored in 2:00.4 by three and three-quarter lengths after wiring the field. Peyton Way (Pierre Bovay) and Nordiac Breeze (Darryl Munro) rounded out the top three cashers.
It was Sigarmill’s first trip to victory lane in six seasonal starts. His 10th lifetime win increased his bankroll to $43,153 for owners Amanda Lane of Roseneath and Brenda Lane of Peterborough, Ont.
Coochie Lane, an eight-year-old Lindy Lane gelding, and Brad Rae got the job done in the final elim for trainer David King and owner Dale Betts of Emsdale, Ont.
The winner of two races in seven starts this year moved first-up from third at three-quarters and sprinted home to win in 2:00. Monkey Nuts (Hie) finished three-quarters of length back in second as the pacesetter, Devil Machine (Greg Lierzert) faded to third.
Coochie Lane, an eight-time winner, has banked $68,352 in his career.
