Reigning U.S. Driver of the Year Tim Tetrick made harness racing history on Thursday evening at Meadowlands Racetrack when he became the youngest reinsman to reach the 8,000 career win mark.

The 32-year-old Illinois native broke the record held by Walter Case Jr., who accumulated 8,000 wins by the age of 37 in 1998.

Tetrick was just two wins away from 8,000 entering the Thursday evening card and reached the milestone with victories aboard Highland Terrific in the fifth race and Spender Hanover in the seventh.

Tetrick recently underwent his second surgery in December for a degenerative hip condition he's had since childhood. 'The Bionic Man's first surgery on his right hip was in 2008.

Despite his brief recovery periods, the four-time U.S. Driver of the Year ranks No. 25 on the all-time harness racing list for wins. He has led the sport in purses for each of the past seven years and ranks No. 7 in career earnings, with $141 million.
