Trot Insider has learned that senior members of Ontario Lottery & Gaming Corporation management are en route to Fort Erie Racetrack for a meeting

slated for 12:00 p.m.

According to Bullet News Niagara, the purpose for the meeting has not been revealed. In light of Monday's announcement by the OLG that the slots at racetracks program would be terminated in March 2013, speculation is rampant. On Monday, the OLG announced that it would close underperforming facilities.

While details revealed on Monday shed little light on when the OLG would start making announcements as to which facilities would be closing and when, MPP Ted McMeekin told the Hamilton Spectator that "between 48 and [72] hours from now, it will all be clear as to what’s happening. I suspect there will be a number of racetracks that will be impacted, but I have no specific information on any...racetrack.”

In today's Windsor Star OLG CEO Rod Phillips stated that Caesars Windsor would not be closing but wouldn't go so far as to confirm a future for Windsor Raceway.

“Caesars Windsor is a critical part of our gaming infrastructure, and we have a major investment in the casino, so, that facility won’t be closing...We will be deciding where customers want us to have locations with slots. Sometimes that will be a racetrack, sometimes it won’t be."

OLG's Paul Godfrey and Minister of Finance Dwight Duncan will be in Windsor on Wednesday to announce more details of the province's new gaming strategy.
