After a near miss in his 2010 debut at Northlands Park on March 6, Timberline Court returned to the Edmonton, Alberta oval and motored to an impressive victory
in Saturday’s feature race.
Timberline Court, who was voted the Four-Year-Old Alberta Sired Horse of the Year at the 2009 ASHA Awards, steamrolled over the seven foes he squared off with in Saturday’s assignment – a $12,000 conditioned event.
Trainer/driver Gerry Hudon got away sixth with the five-year-old son of With Held while Trust The Artist blasted to the top and laid down a :27.3 opening fraction. Trust The Artist was still in control of the tempo as the field rolled by the mid-way point in :55.4, but he came under fierce pressure on the way to the three-quarter pole when Timberline Court powered off cover.
Trust The Artist tripped the teletimer at the three-quarter pole in 1:24.3 before Timberline Court turned on the jets and motored away to a five-length lead at the head of the stretch. A :29-second final frame was more than enough for Timberline Court to win by more than three lengths over runner-up Stiletto Hall. Trust The Artist faded to finish third.
The 1:53.4 score for Timberline Court earned the homebred the 15th triumph of his career. The career winner of $227,359 is owned by Lynn Kowalevsky of Airdrie and Gerry Hudon of Edmonton, Alberta.
