There was no one better than Do Be Better in Buffalo Raceway's $18,571 Open I-II Pace for the fillies and mares on Wednesday, March 12, as she easily wired the field in 1:56.1.
Starting from post two, driver Joseph Chindano Jr. fired off the car aboard Do Me Better and enjoyed reasonable splits on the front end of :29.4, :59.2, and 1:27.4. McVera (Shawn McDonough) got the perfect trip in the pocket throughout the race behind Do Me Better, but had no answers down the stretch and finished 1-1/2 lengths behind the winner. Legal Jeopardy (David McNeight III) was third in the main event.
Winning her second straight start, four-year-old Do Me Better (Always A Virgin—Do Me Good) is co-owned by trainer Maggie Chindano and Jeff Savidge Racing LLC. The victory boosted her seasonal earnings to $17,335 and her career bankroll to $73,520.
In the $15,000 sub-featured pace for the fillies and mares, Bettor B Sawyer ($13.60) and James McNeight Jr. used a sweeping three-wide move approaching the final marker and beat the favoured Big Bad Mosa (Kevin Cummings) in 1:57.4 by 2-3/4 lengths.
Hurrikane Msrodine (Kyle Cummings) and Atlantic Star (Joseph Chindano Jr.) battled it out early by notching fractions of :28.4 and :59.1. But those spirited splits didn't hold up. Samosa Hanover (Shawn McDonough) then took control but only enjoyed the advantage briefly as Bettor B Sawyer and Big Bad Mosa began their journeys forward. Heading down the lane, it became a two-horse battle with Bettor B Sawyer able to turn back the mild threat from Big Bad Mosa. Atlantic Star captured the show position.
Owned by Jose Cervantes and trained by John Leggio, eight-year-old Bettor B Sawyer (Betterthancheddar—Dreamfair Orchid) secured her second win in seven starts this season. The victory pushed her 2025 earnings to $17,512 and her career total to $187,008.
Racing resumes Saturday at 2:30 p.m. with a 12-race card. The Pick 5, starting in Race 2, features a $981 carryover.
