The conditions were ideal Thursday afternoon at Woodbine Racetrack for a seven-pack of qualifying action.

The track was in great shape and listed as ‘Fast’ while the sun was shining bright on the Rexdale oval. Headling the group of qualifiers was millionaire trotter Daylon Magician.

Trained and driven by Jack Moiseyev, Daylon Magician was first to the wire in his first charted line of 2015. The seven-year-old son of Kadabra got away in fourth and would follow Windsun Revenge on the outside in the second-quarter.

After Windsun Revenge touched down on the lead before the half, Daylon Magician would power past the leader and take control just after the midway point.

After reaching the three-quarter pole in 1:28.1, Daylon Magician kicked away from his rivals in the stretch and trotted home with good-looking strides to win by 5 ¾ lengths over Windsun Revenge in 1:56.2.

Owned by Daylon Farms of Komoka, Ontario, Daylon Magician last raced on December 27 at Woodbine. On that evening, the veteran trotter finished second in the $34,000 Preferred trot.

Last season, Daylon Magician won seven of 26 starts and earned just over $173,000. The Moiseyev trainee enters 2015 with 25 career victories and a bankroll of over $1.7 million.

The father-son trainer-driver team of Bob and Scott Young had a good afternoon, as the duo sent out a pair of winners.

Three-year-old pacing colt Mitt Jagger went gate-to-wire to win in 1:56.1. A son of Rocknroll Hanover, Mitt Jagger had one win from five starts last year and finished off his rookie season with a second-place finish in the $100,000 Lou Babic Memorial at Freehold.

Mitt Jagger enters his sophomore campaign with earnings of $39,000 and a mark of 1:53.1.

In the next qualifier, three-year-old pacing filly Beyonces Rockn paced strong up the rail with a final-quarter of :28.3 to score the victory for Team Young.

A daughter of Rock N Roll Heaven, Beyonces Rockn also had one win from five starts last year. Thursday’s qualifying victory matched her speed-mark from last season of 1:57.1.
