The betting public had no problem identifying Mach It Big as a serious threat in Monday’s $15,500 Preferred for pacers at The Raceway at the Western Fair District, and the Richard Moreau pupil didn’t disappoint
his army of pari-mutuel backers.
The trip was sweet for Mach It Big, and the end result was even sweeter for the Ontario Sires Stakes graduate who turned a two-hole trip into a comfortable score in 1:56.4.
J.R. Plante tucked Mach It Big into the garden spot with Mach It Big while Part Shark zipped the field through fractions of :28, :59 and 1:27.2 over a surface listed as “good” with a one-second allowance for time. Plante tipped out of the pocket and went into attack mode with Mach It Big, who used a :29-second kicker to win by 1-3/4 lengths over the pacesetting Part Shark. Third prize was earned by a tagging along Just Crowned.
Keith and Deborah Cassell of Smiths Falls, ON own the four-year-old son of Mach Three-Belinda Hanover who improved his 2012 record to 5-2-1 in 9 tries. The 10-time winner has banked more than $168,095.
