Oak Ridge Boy, who had been performing in conditioned claimers, upgraded his game substantially Monday at The Meadows when he powered to victory in the opening leg of the Ken Weaver Memorial Trot

The event honours the late Ken Weaver, longtime Meadows horseman and fixture on the Pennsylvania Fairs circuit.
Oak Ridge Boy had been racing off the trot, but when he stepped up to the series, he barreled out early for Brett Miller, made a quarter-pole move to the front and cruised from there, scoring in 1:59 over a sloppy surface. Upfront Charlieboy raced well first over for second, and Piggypow overcame a long layoff to earn show.
Clair Umholtz trains Oak Ridge Boy, a four-year-old Tom Ridge-Sneaky Speed gelding, for Umholtz Racing Stable and Kennedy Sports Corp.
Black Chip and Sky Lav, both piloted by Dave Palone, also captured $15,000 divisions in the series for three and four-year-old colt and gelding trotters.
Miller drove four winners on the 15-race card while Palone and Aaron Merriman each fashioned a three-bagger.
