Spring Break Repeats In Mares Preferred

Spring Break overpowered a classy field in Friday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Not Listed Preferred/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows, taking the early lead and gliding effortlessly through the slop for her second straight victory

and third in her last four starts.

Mike Wilder sent Spring Break to the front in a demanding :27.3 opening quarter but was able to give her a :30-second panel breather. Still, with archrival Jans Luck on her bumper, it appeared Spring Break would be vulnerable in the stretch. But the seven-year-old daughter of Dream Away-Siobhan had plenty in reserve, downing Jans Luck by half a length in 1:53.4, with Tremor Hanover a rallying third.

Randy Bendis trains Spring Break, who now boasts $629,421 in career earnings, for Joann and Joe Thomson.
