Ginger And Fred displayed some fancy footwork as she glided to victory over a sloppy track in the $50,000 second round of the Overbid Series Friday at the Meadowlands
Racetrack.
With Tim Tetrick in tow, Ginger And Fred swung up to take the lead from BCs Jesse (Daniel Dube) after a :29.3 opening quarter and went untested through middle fractions of :57:3 and 1:25.1. She dug in gamely to fend off a late challenge by Knock Three Times (Ron Pierce) for a 1-1/2-length tally in 1:53.3. Chancey Lady (John Campbell) rounded out the top three.
Ginger And Fred, trained by Ron Burke, pushed her career earnings to $933,240 with the victory. The prolific four-year-old daughter of Real Artist-Graceful Motion has won 15 of 36 starts for owners Howard Taylor, Robert Feldman, Edwin Gold and Jerry Silva. She will have the chance to add to her coffers in the $123,000 (est.) Overbid Final on March 19.
