Goldstein On Top Horses

Barry Goldstein, co-owner of both Arch Madness and Falls For You, spoke to Trot Insider today about his pair of millionaire trotters which this morning put in

their first charted miles of the season at the Meadowlands Racetrack during the qualifying session.

Falls For You, the millionaire Yankee Glide mare, contested Race 8 and sat second for the duration of the trip. The five-year-old bay finished a nose back of first at the wire, trotting her mile in 1:56.4 for pilot Brian Sears.

With trainer Trond Smedshammer at his lines, O'Brien Award winner Arch Madness also sat second for the duration of his trip. The five-year-old gelded son of Balanced Image finished second, two lengths in arrears, and covered his mile in 1:54.3.

"Our intentions are to have two qualifiers. Our goal today was to keep them calm, keep them covered up, and we accomplished that," Goldstein told Trot Insider. "With Arch Madness, we have our eye on May, and will manage him with that in mind."

In speaking of 'May,' Goldstein is referring to going overseas and contesting the Elitlopp and Oslo Grand Prix, if his charge is to be invited.

In other news, the horse that defeated Arch Madness this morning was millionaire Enjoy Lavec gelding Enough Talk. The six-year-old went gate-to-wire in victory, stopping the clock in 1:54.1 for pilot Ron Pierce.
