Ideal Newton tracked the dueling leaders and charged home late to win the $50,000 second leg division of the Overbid Series for pacing mares on Friday night at Meadowlands Racetrack

Ideal Newton sat third over as stablemates Ginger And Fred (Brian Sears) and Laughandbehappy (David Miller) battled each other into submission, and rallied between horses to capture the fifth race feature in 1:50.2. Not Enough (Ron Pierce) tracked the pace from fourth over and closed in a brisk :26.4 seconds to finish a half-length behind her. Ginger And Fred held third.
Ideal Newton, driven by Tim Tetrick, improved her record to two wins in five starts this season. The six-year-old daughter of Western Ideal-Sass Newton, who finished a close second to Not Enough in the opening round, now sports career earnings of over $541,000. In other action, last year's Breeders Crown runner-up Rock N Soul made her 2011 debut a winning one in the $27,500 Mares Preferred Pace. Driven by Yannick Gingras, the pocket-sitter sprinted home in :27.1 to prevail in 1:52 over favourite Royal Cee Cee N (Ron Pierce) and pacesetter Delightful Diva (Brian Sears).
The four-year-old daughter of Rocknroll Hanover-Artchitecture, trained by Ron Burke, won the Shady Daisy and the opening heat of the Jugette during her sophomore campaign. She also enjoyed top three finishes in the Mistletoe Shalee, Breeders Crown and Matron to bank over $400,000 in 2010. With her victory tonight, she lifted her earnings to over $484,000 for the Burke Racing Stable LLC, Weaver Bruscemi LLC, Frank Baldachino, and Howard Taylor.
