Mon Amour captured his first local Open Trot victory in the $21,429 feature on Monday, March 10, at Saratoga Casino Hotel, improving to two-for-two at the Spa after his March 3 win.
Billy Dobson once again sat behind the seven-year-old invader who enjoyed a cover trip in his Open debut. After the race’s leader tired, the outer tier thrived, setting up a late charge from Mon Amour. Sent off at 11-1 odds, the veteran trotter surged in the final strides to win by a head in 1:58. Deadline Hall (Aaron Byron), a 22-1 longshot, rallied from far back to finish second, while Malibu Kid (Matt Athearn), who raced first-over, held on for third.
Mon Amour, a son of Muscle Hill-Mind Meld, is trained by Andrew Adamczyk and owned by Morrison Racing Stables of Indiana, Pennsylvania. Morrison Racing has enjoyed success at Saratoga this season, with The Good Doctor emerging as a force in the Open pacing ranks.
Adamczyk has been on a tear to start his season locally at Saratoga. The out-of-town conditioner has been winning at an impressive rate in the early part of the season. In his first 19 local starts, he has already recorded 12 victories.
Live harness racing continues on Tuesday, March 11 with a matinee that begins at 12 p.m.
