Four-year-old trotter Bucktober struck again at The Raceway at Western Fair District on Friday night (March 10), extending his win streak to six.
Just like in his five previous starts over the London, Ont. oval, Bucktober was on top by the quarter pole. He looped early leaver Royal Leaf at the :28.4 first marker then toyed with his competition through middle splits of 1:00 and 1:29.3 en route to a 1-3/4-length victory in 2:01.3 as light snow fell over the 'good' track. Royal Leaf chased in second as the outside challengers faded down the stretch while Jayport Roadrunner shot through inside to pick up third money.
Bucktober was the overwhelming 1-9 favourite in the $9,000 conditioned trot and returned $2.20 to win.
Tyler Borth drives, trains and co-owns the Flanagan Memory gelding with William Borth and Karen Sparling. Unraced as a two-year-old, Bucktober has won 13 of his 28 starts while earning $67,158 so far in his career.
